I use my Sennheiser PC166 headset pretty much exclusively and when I got home this afternoon none of my audio was working.. after trying a few things I start pulling the cables to my headset and somewhere on the floor under the desk near my subwoofer both the mic and headphone cables were cut in two!

I can only assume that one of my cats was pulling on them this afternoon and tore them in half. I wish they had thicker cables since just a few years ago my wife's rabbit chewed them in half but luckily they were still under warranty then. This time it will cost me $79 for a replacement from Sennheiser.. which is about the same price you can get the PC161 for which are the same as the PC166 except without the USB sound card. I never use the headset sound card anyways but since the PC166 costs about $140 I might as well get them for $79..

When I have the spare money I'm switching to Sennheiser HD-595 headphones and the Logitech Desktop USB Mic.

just strip it all and slice it together if its in the middle. if you shield your work it should be fine, just will be a little shorter.

and put a gate around your PC tower lol i remember the last time that happened

Defenitely , don't waste your money. My brother had these $100 monster ear buds, cable comes loose so he tosses them in the garbage. I cut em, strip em and splice em together, voila! $100 saved.

In most cases when I get a cut cable I'll just solder them together myself but in this case the wires Sennheiser uses are REALLY REALLY small. You could never join them together properly and to just add new ends I would either need a fine point low wattage soldering iron or and air soldering system... I swear the core has to be over 35 gauge.. blah.

Hah I had a little wall I built around my desk but I removed it when we no longer had the rabbits. I'm just going to put a sleeve around the smaller cables this time.
